Other Platforms: The Honest Answer

AetherSX2 only ever existed for Android. Rather than sell you a fake IPA, here is what actually works on each platform:

  • Windows / PC — PCSX2, the emulator AetherSX2 was built from.
  • Mac — PCSX2 ships native Apple Silicon and Intel builds.
  • iPhone / iPad — no AetherSX2 exists; see what actually runs PS2 games on iOS.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which AetherSX2 version should I download?

For Snapdragon/Adreno devices: v1.5-4248 with the NetherSX2 patch applied. For Mali or PowerVR GPUs (MediaTek, Exynos): v1.5-3668, the base of NetherSX2 Classic. For phones on Android 9 or with 3 GB RAM: v1.4-3064.

Is there an AetherSX2 version for iOS, PC, or Mac?

No. AetherSX2 was only ever released for Android. Sites offering an 'AetherSX2 IPA' or 'AetherSX2 for PC' are mislabeling other software. On PC and Mac the real equivalent is PCSX2 — the emulator AetherSX2 was based on — and we maintain honest guides for both.

Why do some AetherSX2 versions have ads and others don't?

Ads were introduced into official builds late in the project's life, after v1.5-3668. That is why 3668 is remembered as the last clean official build, and why the community created the NetherSX2 patch to strip ads from the final v1.5-4248.

How do I verify an AetherSX2 APK is safe?

Check the file's SHA-256 hash against a known-good value before installing, and never install builds that request permissions beyond storage. The NetherSX2 patch tool does this automatically — it refuses to patch an APK whose checksum doesn't match the genuine build.

Do old versions need a different BIOS?

No. Every AetherSX2 and NetherSX2 version uses the same PS2 BIOS dump. Dump it once from your own console and it works across all builds — and in PCSX2 on desktop too.
